There’s just something about autumn— and there was just something about this wedding. Kat & Fairfax communicated from the start their desire to have a laidback wedding celebration that emphasized the nature around them and the people they love. Their day was held at Buckhorn Hollow, a sprawling farm on which they live – and it was a wonder of a day. The crisp air, the gentle warmth of the sun before it dipped below the horizon, and the way the world seemed to glow in shades of gold, copper, and hot pink (that sunset!). The magic & candid joy came alive for K & F’s wedding, and is one I truly won’t forget 🙂
From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was inviting – they got married during golden hour on a dock overlooking the pond, and guests were seated on wooden benches handmade by Fax. They foraged autumn leaves and flowers to incorporate the seasonal growth of plants from the farm as part of their ceremony.
As the sun began to sink, guests moved to a cocktail hour held outdoors, as well as inside the tent. They included appetizers of charcuterie items from the farm, and guests huddled around firepits and under cozy throws laid out to stay warm, the kind of detail that spoke more to thoughtfulness than theme. Following toasts and a savory meal, the night led into an electric dance party – no shortage of energy!
It’s easy to think of a farm wedding and imagine hay bales, mason jars, and checkered tablecloths. But this evening was proof that a countryside setting can be refined, organic, and elevated —rich with atmosphere, steeped in seasonality, and anchored in the simple beauty of nature & all their people surrounding them.
Kat & Fairfax didn’t just host a wedding; they created moments in time that felt like them.
